New VWG version ships today, new features such as Inherited forms and user controls as in WinForms are available  [click for more...]

Hi All,

We have uploaded the new unstable version 5.85 and turned 5.84.2 into the current stable version (actually this is one of the main reasons of why it took us so long to release revision 5.84.2 - we wanted to make sure you guys get the chance to report newly created bugs appeared in 5.84.1).

Version 5.85 contains some major fixes and exiting new features such as:

1. Inherited forms and user controls as in WinForms!!!

2. Drag&Drop improvements enabling dragging and dropping component level elements (such as TreenNodes, ListViewItems etc.)

3. Location & Size properties calculation fixes - enabling server side code to investigate the actual size of controls in runtime.

4. Click event’s X,Y coordinates are now available.

5. Design time Copy & Paste correction; so that now, copying and pasting controls won't clone events attachments as before...

And many more…

Furthermore, in a week or two we are about to release VWG's first official release 1.0R (build 6.0)...

I hope you guys will enjoy this version...

Silverlight CTP is also available for this version based on Silverlight Alpha 1.1.

The next VWG/Silverilght CTP version will be based on the newly released Silverlight 2.0 beta version!!! With improved performance and enhanced features and environment!!!

Oh, and one other thing... Next week I'll see that both 5.84.2 and 5.85 SVN branches will be fully updated with all of the assemblies enabling you guys to get & build SDK codes...

Regards,
Itzik Spitzen

Zumobi Application for Windows Mobile Phones  [click for more...]

image

I downloaded a new free application called Zumobi tonight and like the overall concept.  It's a bit slow on my phone (PPC-6700) but useable.  The application lets you pick up to 16 tiles (mini applications) that can be displayed on your phone and then lets you zoom into 4 tiles and then down to 1 tile.  For example, you can have sports tiles, amazon.com tiles, Woot tiles, game tiles, etc. and then navigate the tiles and drill down into them to view details (such as sports news, the latest item on Woot.com, etc.).  It has some iPhone-like zoom animations which are good compared to typical applications that run on Windows Mobile phones.

Here's what it looks like:

image image image

They have a gallery of tiles that can be selected and sent to your phone plus you can download an SDK to develop your own tiles.

I've only played with it for a little bit but so far I'm impressed with the concept.  As more and more tiles are made available it should be a great way to view content on a Windows Mobile phone.
