This past month has been a major lull for www.SingingEels.com, as we are all working professionals and this month has been very busy for all of us. We have a lot of things in the mix, including primarily more articles on LINQ, .NET 3.5 and other fun topics.
We're also planning on a full re-write into a .NET 3.5 environment with rich AJAX integration. We like to "eat our own dog food" so to speak, and I realize that we've had several articles on AJAX, LINQ, proper CSS design and the like... so we're going to re-focus and give the community a powerful and informative resource.

Tim Heuer has done a really nice Sidebar Gadget Template for Visual Studio. The structure you get when creating a new Web Site/VistaSidebarGadget from VS : Note that it creates one local folder (en-US) so you can easily add some more later, and it comes with lots of comments on the code (html and js). You also get a nice utils.js file full of JavaScript functions! The link to the vsi template is on his post: http://www.timheuer.com/blog/archive/2007/03/11/14010.aspx

There are a well known issue with the UnfoldTemplateAction which is provided in the GAX Library. Basically this action able you to unfold .vstemplate files by hand but it has a ugly issue in where you can't do any parameter replacements than the default ones . In fact is not a bug into the action so the issue resides in that is using the AddFromTemplate method from the DTE automation model and there's no way to pass any replacement dictionary using that method directly. So I wrote an action in order...( read more)

If, like me, you post pieces of code for others to view, I imagine you'll often do so in the language of your choice (and more than likely it will be C# or VB.NET). However, for some beginners it's often quite hard to grasp these examples if they are written in a language you are not familiar with. I had this scenario when one of the visitors to my site wanted to see an example in C#, but I had written the article using VB.BET. It wasn't too hard for me to convert it, but it did mean that I had to...( read more)
